MySkill can now help job seekers new to the healthcare sector, access free training and support to connect with local health organisations wanting to hire new talents.

MySkill (NZQA registered private training establishment for the home and community health sector) has now partnered with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), and Careerforce (supporting workplace-based training), to provide a much-needed boost for employment in New Zealand’s health industry.

Through this exciting development, job seekers can now upskill themselves into the rewarding and fast-growing healthcare industry,” says Anita Guthrie, MySkill General Manager.

This is positive news for people who have lost their jobs during the pandemic. “COVID-19 presented the most significant challenge our healthcare system has ever faced and has resulted in a significant number of displaced workers from across New Zealand’s economy. This partnership between MSD, MySkill and Careerforce allows us not only to support potential employees into a rewarding and secure career but also helps to address the shortage of workers across the health sector at the same time,” says Jane Wenman, Careerforce Chief Executive.

Local health organisations can promote themselves on MySkill’s website for free, giving them ‘first in line’ access to talented candidates before they enter the job market. These candidates are much more cost-efficient to hire due to less training and recruitment costs. “Ultimately, we would have helped health organisations save their time and money when they are looking to hire through MySkill,” says Anita.

It’s easy for job seekers to get started. “All you need to do is have a look at MySkill’s website, register to start your training, and we will work with you to connect you with your local employers listed on our website,” adds Anita.

Everyone is winning! From people wanting to find a meaningful job in the health sector to local health organisations meeting with candidates before they hit the job market,” Anita finished.
