FAQs – Free Learning and Job Placement with MySkill

With over 20 years’ experience in delivering online and face-to-face training, MySkill is a NZQA registered private training establishment making high quality, relevant and culturally appropriate learning available nationwide.

MySkill is dedicated to providing free training programs and job placement services to Kiwis. We offer comprehensive training to become Support Workers and have recently introduced a Service Centre Training pathway.

Yes, all our training programs are completely free for eligible participants. We believe in making education and job opportunities accessible to everyone.

  1. Sign up via our website. Our team will contact you to discuss if this is the right programme for you.
  2. Pre-employment training – the start of your online learning journey, which will help you secure a new career
  3. Interview Training and Work Placement – We’ll connect you with health organisations for an interview and job opportunity.
  4. Once you find the right job, we will continue to support you to complete your training in either the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 2 (Support Work) or, the soon to be launched, NZ Certificate in Call Centre Level 3

To be eligible you must be a NZ resident or citizen – and you must not be working full-time currently. 

MySkill healthcare training comes in two parts. You can complete the first part prior to finding employment, and the second part while you work.

The candidate completes a number of unit standards from the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 2 in pre-employment.  Once they are placed into employment the Pre-employment training.

These unit standards are awarded upon completion. 

  • Pre-packaged medication (US 23685) 2 credits
  • A person’s rights (US 23686) 2 credits
  • Moving people and equipment (US 23452) 3 credits

 

Theory part is completed in the pre-employment stage.  Unit standards are awarded once in employment and workplace verification is completed.

  • Role of a support worker (US 23451) 5 credits
  • Impact of Culture (US 28529) 5 credits



Level 2: The NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing

Once you find employment, MySkill will continue to support you to complete the remaining modules in the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 2. This is the foundational qualification required by all employees in the sector.
