FREE Online Healthcare Training & Job Placement

With over 20 years’ experience in delivering online and face-to-face training, MySkill is a NZQA registered private training establishment making high quality, relevant and culturally appropriate learning available nationwide.

MySkill is dedicated to providing free training programs and job placement services to Kiwis. We offer comprehensive training to become Support Workers and have recently introduced a Service Centre Training pathway.

Yes, all our training programs are completely free for eligible participants. We believe in making education and job opportunities accessible to everyone.

1. Sign up via MSD single sign on OR sign up via our website
2. You will be enrolled in the MySkill Healthcare Taster course
3. On completion of the taster course MySkill will contact you to discuss if this is the right career pathway for you
4. If this is the right pathway for you, we will enrol you in the pre-employment modules
5. We will connect you with health organisations for an interview and job opportunity
6. Once you find the right job, we will continue to support you to complete your training in
   • NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 2 (support work) if you don’t already have this qualification or
   • Certificate in Aged Healthcare (Micro-credential) L3 for those that already have a relevant healthcare qualification

To be eligible you must be a NZ resident or citizen.

1. Pre-employment Training – the training is online and can be completed at the candidate’s own pace. Usually given 3 months to complete.

2. Employment Support – once you have finished the Pre-employment training our recruiters will then assist you in finding work.

As a support worker, having a driver’s licence & own vehicle are essential, as you may be required to transport our clients to appointments or to other activities. If you don’t currently have a driver’s license, you might be eligible for the Driver’s License Support Programme run by the Ministry of Social Development Help to get a driver licence – Work and Income . Alternatively, you may contact your nearest Work and Income office to confirm your eligibility and get further assistance.

*Please note that we cannot guarantee employment upon completion of the training programme. After the training, candidates will undergo a screening process based on their availability. Only those who meet the job requirements will be referred for interviews, and selected candidates will be considered for available positions in NZ Health Group. However, MySkill recruiters will provide support in your job search.

3. Post-employment Training – this is the second part of the training which can also be completed online but can only be given once you are employed as it involves a managerial verification and practical observation component.

Once all these parts are finished you’ll receive your NZQA level 2 Health & Wellbeing certificate.

The candidate completes the Taster course and is screened for suitability for the healthcare sector. 

The taster comprises non-NZQA modules of learning covering Household Management,  Personal Cares and the role of a support worker.

If they have no relevant qualification they are enrolled into:

• Pre packaged medication (US 23685) 2 credits
• A person’s rights (US 23686) 2 credits

If they have a relevant healthcare qualification at (L2, L3, L4) they are enrolled into:

• Certificate in Aged Healthcare (Micro-credential) L3

Level 2: The NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing

Once you find employment, MySkill will continue to support you to complete the remaining modules in the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 2. This is the foundational qualification required by all employees in the sector.

The modules you study will depend on the area of the sector that you will be working in and will be a strand in one of the following:

• Disability Support
• Aged Care
• Rehabilitation
